Dr. Hossein Vahidi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), Iran and Director of Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at FUM's Faculty of Letters and Humanities. He received his PhD in Geoinformatics from Keio University (Japan) and earned a master’s degree in Geoinformatics from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente (the Netherlands). His undergraduate background is in Civil Engineering.

Prior to joining FUM, he held a Research Scientist position at University College Dublin (Ireland), a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Keio University (Japan), a Visiting Researcher position at the University of British Columbia (Canada), a Research Fellow position at K. N. Toosi University of Technology (Iran), and a Senior Scholar position at the China University of Geosciences (China).

Dr. Vahidi enjoys addressing complex urban and environmental issues through advanced spatiotemporal data analytics. His research interests cover a wide range of topics within the fields of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, with a focus on Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), Spatial Data Science, Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), Geographical Citizen Science, Collective Sensing, Spatial Data Quality, Spatial Ecology, Urban Simulation, Health Geography, and the intersection of these areas.
