Professor Mostafa Mirjalili's research interests lie on materials science and engineering, with a specific focus on the chemistry and electrochemistry of materials. He also serves as the director of the department of corrosion and materials protection. His research group are addressing fundamental issues in corrosion and electrochemical aspects of energy conversion and storage. His group employs a wide range of electrochemical techniques to evaluate and promote the catalytic activity of the electrocatalysts used in batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors, and electrolyzers, etc. In addition, professor Mirjalili's group focuses on electrochemical water splitting, electrochemical CO2 capture and reduction, synthesis of electrochromic materials, electrochemical sensors and biosensors, coatings and materials protection, electroplating and electrodeposition, and the synthesis and processing of advanced materials.
