Omid Mirshamsi is an Iranian arachnologist who received his PhD from University of Tehran, with a main interest toward the systematics and distribution of the scorpion family Buthidae in Iran. He is also interested in the distribution and taxonomy of spiders of Iran. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad
