Adel is an associate professor at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and has more than 10 years of experience in research and teaching regarding geology, soil geomorphology, geobiology, soil restoration, ecosystem management, and microbial geomorphology.
Adel has graduated and been awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Isfahan, MSc from Shiraz University, and BSc from Mashhad (all three are among the most prestigious top universities in Iran). Adel has been involved actively in one-year research at the University of Sassari in Italy, where many big European Commission projects related to ecosystem management and land degradation are conducted. In Master and Ph.D. academic courses at those mentioned universities, he earned the equivalent of a 4 (letter grade A) cumulative grade point average on a 4 (US grading scale) and he was honored as a talented student.
The University of Isfahan appointed him as a talented and over-qualified candidate for Ph.D. As a member of the Iran National Elite Foundation, he was awarded a four-year Ph.D. scholarship. Also, he received a full scholarship from the Iran Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology for 4 years during my Ph.D. degree.
His research field predominantly concentrated on environmental hazards considering land degradation, soil erosion and conservation, and land subsidence, while soil microbiology, microbial geomorphology, soil bioremediation, biofilms in dry environments, the role of soil microbial communities to reconstruct past environments, and restoration of degraded soils.
