About Me

I am Masoud Mollaee, an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, specializing in optics and laser technologies. My academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. in Optics with a focus on laser systems from the University of Arizona, where I also completed my M.Sc. in Materials Engineering. I earned my B.Sc. in Physics from my hometown university—Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. My work revolves around photonics, fiber and solid-state lasers, optical materials, nanomaterials, quantum optics, and thin films.

Since completing my Ph.D., I have had the opportunity to work as the Technology Investment Director at a venture capital firm. In this role, I have contributed to the funding of millions of dollars for various startups and technological ventures. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I am eager to bring this practical knowledge into my academic role.

I have also worked as a research scientist at NP Photonics, gaining extensive experience in cutting-edge laser technologies. Throughout my career, I have been deeply engaged in both academic research and industry-focused projects. As a member of the board in several knowledge-based companies, I have taken on key roles in driving innovation and technological advancements. I am particularly interested in developing strategic business models and feasibility studies for new technologies.

My work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Union in photonics and the Technology and Research Initiative Fund Award from the Arizona Board of Regents. I am also passionate about social and economic justice, particularly in the areas of strategic management and technology-driven production.

I have contributed to various research projects sponsored by organizations such as NASA, DARPA, and the U.S. Department of Defense, focusing on laser systems, optical materials. My research has resulted in numerous high-impact publications on topics like fiber optics, nonlinear optics, and the magneto-optical properties of rare-earth-doped materials.

Combining my technical expertise with my leadership in innovation and strategic business development, I am dedicated to advancing science while fostering practical applications that benefit both industry and society.
